Here’s to road trips! I spent the weekend mapping out a west coast road trip for late September to visit some places I haven’t seen in fifty years, and some friends I haven’t seen in a handful of years, or months. Hugging the 91-year-old is primary, but he could outlast any of us. One never knows, do one? Three months stuck at home with post-covid-fatigue followed immediately by foot fractures and I can’t wait to roll out into the world again. Happy trails!
By now the two of you have "lived" on this new candidate for your "did" list. I am anxious to hear where the journey took you. I couldn't help but smile the entire way through this piece. Thanks, Hoarse, for kicking off my morning!
"In life, we get to make two lists: the things we wanted to do and the things we did." So glad you're working on the DID list. Hope you have a great time.
Yesterday I had lunch with a friend who loves to travel and who, I observed, has been doing retirement the right way. She said her new motto is to hope that the last check she writes will bounce!
I'd love to go right now, drive to the Grand Canyon after kidnapping a friend or two who wants to road trip with me. The holiday weekend is coming up, the perfect excuse to put something in the 'did' column. But I have no money and no hook up, though I surely don't begrudge that you do. That is awesome, and its even more awesome you get to share it with your son, who will get an awesome education on things, have lots of fun, but most importantly just get to spend time with his dad. Making the best memories.
Travel and education. Two things no one can take from you. Two of the most important parts of life. You are giving your son the world. Enjoy every moment.
